The Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater (10 Days)

This world-famous area well deserves its reputation as a safari and game viewing paradise. But time spent here will open your eyes to other great treasures of this wonderful country Tanzania. The people themselves are a delight - dignified yet warm, friendly and helpful - creating a relaxed and secure atmosphere ideal for exploration. And the scenery alone would justify this area's popularity. Within less than 200 kms one can see ancient granite mountains, volcanic craters, grassy plains, arid wilderness, dense tropical bush, montane rain forest, and large lakes. This is virtually unchanged and untamed Africa - just waiting to be explored.
Our 10-day tour is centred on game watching and we travel through the area 'safari style' in opening-roof 4x4 vehicles which enable safe close-up game viewing. But our guide and tour leader will also be showing and telling you lots about so many other aspects - the plant life, smaller animals, geology, history and so on. We stay first at the Swiss-owned Dik Dik Hotel (2 nts) in the countryside below Mount Kilimanjaro, enabling us to settle in and visit the delightful Arusha National Park, with its excellent bird watching, rare monkey species, and magnificent scenery. We then head west into the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater areas, to see the spectacular views and abundant wildlife, including the famous migrating herds. This includes stays at Lake Manyara (1 nt), southern Serengeti (1nt), central Serengeti (2 nts), rim of the Ngorongoro Crater (2 nts) then ending back at our first hotel, Dik Dik, and flying back to South Africa the following day.
