Namibia - Etosha
and the Deserts (13 Days)
Vast desert and
mountain landscapes; the stark simplicity of rock and sand;
magical light and colour effects over the vast distances;
friendly and vibrant people; and superb nature and game-viewing
opportunities. We fly you to Windhoek (1 night) for an exciting
and comprehensive 13-day tour of central Namibia, by
air-conditioned minibus or small coach with Landscape guide.
From Windhoek we head south to the Namib Naukluft Park and the
famous Sossusvlei dunes, staying at a guest farm (2 nts). Then
we explore the stone desert and Moon Landscape with its ancient
Welwitschia plants, visit Walvis Bay and stay in Swakopmund (2
nts). Set between desert and sea, this colourful old colonial
town and its surroundings are full of interest. We cross
Damaraland's rocky wilderness, visiting the Spitzkoppe. Our
lodge is at the foot of the Brandberg, and we can stroll in this
magnificent mountain area (1 nt). Next day we continue across
Damaraland via Vingerklip to Outjo (1nt). We enter Namibia's
most famous National Park - Etosha (3 nts), staying at Halali
Camp (2 nts) and a private lodge just outside the Park (1 nt).
The game viewing here is superb, whether sitting still to
observe the activities at the camp's waterhole, or on frequent
game drives throughout the area. We move southwards to the
Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo area (1 nt), visiting the fascinating
underground Lake Otjikoto. Later we stop at Okahandja, famous
for its woodcarvers markets. We stay at a nearby game lodge(1 nt).
Next day we head for Windhoek for our return flight.
