Kwazulu Natal Nature Safari (10 Days)

This 10-day safari is for those who love nature in all its aspects, and what better area to explore than the verdant scenery and superb game reserves of north-eastern KwaZulu-Natal! The group flies in to Durban from Cape Town (or JHB). There you'll meet your Landscape guide and minibus, and we head north to stay at Bonamanzi Game Park, a 4000 hectare private wildlife reserve in the heart of Zululand, bordered by Lake St. Lucia (5 nts). It's a Natural Heritage site, abounding in game and boasting some 350 listed species of birds. From there we visit nearby the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, and Mkuze Reserve to the north, and take a fascinating boat trip on Lake St. Lucia.

Leaving Bonamanzi we tour northwards, taking in Jozini and Pongola, and arrive at Ithala Game Reserve (3 nts), set in the rugged Mabomvu mountains. Ithala is scenically magnificent, with astonishing geological diversity and some of the oldest rock formations on earth (try to imagine 3000 million years!) Here are black and white rhino, elephant, a wide variety of antelope and wonderful birdlife.

From Ithala we head southwards to stay at Shakaland Hotel near Eshowe (1 nt), including fun-filled and informative presentations of Zulu life. We visit the Dlinza Forest reserve for a tree-top canopy walk, before finally returning to Durban to catch our flight home.
